Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid
This Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid course has been developed for those who work with children and infants and is particularly suitable for childminders, nurseries and school staff, and fully satisfies the guidelines laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and OFSTED to receive 12 hours of paediatric training.
A minimum of 12 contact hours is required to deliver both Unit 1 and Unit 2 which can be delivered over 2 days, evenings ( or a mixture) to suit your needs.
Responsibilities and Reporting, Assessment of the situation (DRABC), Dealing with an unconscious casualty, Resuscitation (Child & Infant), Choking, Control of bleeding and Shock, Eye injuries, Head injuries, Diabetes, Anaphylaxis, Meningitis, Burns, Asthma, Croup, Sepsis, Fainting, Seizures & Febrile Convulsions, Fractures(soft tissue injuries) Extremes of temperatures(hypothermia and hyperthermia)
An ongoing assessment on the practical elements will be conducted throughout the course with a short multiple choice paper at the end of both days to confirm the delegate has met the standards required by Ofqual. Providing the delegate passes both the theory and practical elements they will receive a nationally approved certificate (Ofqual) valid for 3 years from the date of the course.
The HSE strongly recommend that all learners attend a 3 hour yearly refresher.
